Garvin’s RV & Adventures has a long history in Arizona as an RV dealership. Don Garvin Sr. started Starvin’ Garvin’s RV Center in 1950, located in Tempe, Arizona. 29-years later, Don Garvin moved to Payson for the cooler temperatures and took the business with him. He, his wife, and three children made the move. From 1979 to the early 1980’s, Starvin’ Garvin’s RV was located in the Town of Payson. However, Don Garvin saw the potential of commercial property located in Rye, Arizona, 11 miles south of Payson. He moved the business to this site and lived and operated Starvin’ Garvin’s RV at that location until his passing in 2010, at which time the business was liquidated.
His son Donald Garvin (Donny) has been involved in his father’s RV business since childhood. Donny graduated high school in Payson, went to college in the valley area, and became a Police Officer for the Town of Payson. After his 27-years of service to the Town of Payson as a Police Officer, he retired, and opened Garvin’s RV & Adventures. The exciting re-opening of this business consists of a sales department, a service department, a parts department, and a rental department. Garvin’s RV & Adventures now sells and rents out recreational vehicles, in combination with many ancillary products that enhance the camping/outdoor adventure experience.
